Time and Exposure

I agree with you about Spurl – I think that it is possibly the most useful of the social bookmarking sites, although I must admit that I am still using Furl primarily because it is what I started with way back when.

Troy wrote this and referenced Joe. I picked it up for two reasons. First, the more people keep talking about Spurl, the more motivated I am getting to try to make a switch. The second reason, however, is probably the most important thing. Troy talks about what he knew first, and that’s me with delicious. But, that’s also most of the teachers I work with and their relationships to technology. First, they knew books, chalkboards, three-ring binders, and so forth.  It’s easier to stay with what they know. But, if over time and with repeated exposure to spurl, I’m getting ready to make a shift – then maybe that says something to me about the professional development work I do with teachers.  I have to give them time and repeated exposure in order to help them prepare to ultimately change the way they work.
