What nourishes you as a teacher/writer/person?
Teaching nourishes me as a teacher. Teaching at the college level requires a lot of “extras†and now as a program coordinator, I have a lot of extras. Sometimes it seems we can so wrapped up in these extras we can forget the real focus of our job-teaching.

My classroom is the place that I am settled. I am in my comfort zone and everything is good. I love teaching both the developmental and college-level mathematics and both bring satisfaction. I have found at the community college many of the college level students either came out of developmental courses or are returning students that need “refreshing†of the material. My teaching strategy in the two types of courses varies little. I attempt to make it relevant to them and have them work and discuss the material with themselves, others and me.

I would say Marshall football also nourishes me.   It is and has been a large part of my life since junior high and it is a focal point for me and my family. We spend more time together at games than we do during other times of the year.
