Lent

As part of my Lent observance I will be attempting to journal about my life and faith.  I started Lent spending two days with Matt, Mark, and Betsy on a road trip to Virginia for the funeral of Kenneth Owen.  This was a good chance for the four of us to be together and just talk.  I see so many families that don’t get along and I am thankful that our parents taught us to love each other unconditionally.  It prepared us to be better fathers, mother, and parents.

This Lenten season is going to be busy with the normal things of life; work and work, but it is the first with health uncertainties.  Tomorrow I see a cardiologist and I hope he allows me to start an exercise program that might help getting my blood sugars and blood pressures under control.  This Lenten season could be a good opportunity to improve several aspects of my daily life: health and my walk with Jesus.  I have had a wonderful life for fifty years.  I had awesome parents and a loving family.  I have been married almost thirty years to the girl of my dreams and have two grown children that have been a true blessing.  I have the opportunity to get up each morning and go to a job that allows me to teach.  I truly believe that I was called to teach and thank God I have been able to follow the calling.  I could not ask for more.
