What does it mean to be a teacher?
A teacher is a coach. A teacher pushes and pulls students through the learning. Encouragement, pleading, motivating, begging, scolding, explaining in different ways are all coaching tools that a teacher also uses.
Teaching is hard work. Teaching involves not only disseminating information, but making it relative for each and ever student. Knowing the material is the easy part, knowing teaching methods and learning strategies to meet the students needs is the killer.
Teaching means staying young, or for me, not growing up. Keeping up with the latest fads, technology, political workings, and social concerns are very important to me as a teacher. A teacher . . .
